My name is Sean Patrick and I have been a professional film critic and member of the Critics Choice Association since 2012. I have been writing movie reviews online since late 1999.
My love of movies comes from my mom who loved Cary Grant and gave that passion for movies to me via watching his films.
I first realized I wanted to write about movies when I saw the movie Summer of Sam and wanted to talk about it with anyone who would listen. That same year I saw The Talented Mr. Ripley and had the same desire for a place to put the thoughts the movie inspired.
From there I began my own personal film school. I bought film school textbooks and I watched every movie I could find time for, beginning with well known classics and moving into more advanced fare, foreign films, art films, and the like.
I worked in a video store, I know, it's a bit of cliche, but it gave me free access to an endless number of movies.
And I read more and more books about screenplays, cinematography and film history.
